Youth Mentoring Consultant
COSTI REQUIRES A YOUTH MENTORING CONSULTANT FOR ITS GTA AND YORK REGION LOCATIONS
Duties:
Screens and assesses candidates who are youth, to determine participant suitability for COSTI’s Youth programs as well as for mentoring programs, for the purpose of enhancing their employment opportunities in their field or related field.
Facilitates orientation and training sessions for both Mentees and Mentors, networking/special speaker events, topics that support, motivate and are relevant to both Mentors and Mentees, in Toronto & York Region.
Facilitates networking and other related workshops and special events to support and motivate clients through the process of mentoring and career advancement.
Monitors the database and online HUB associated with the NetWorks/Mentoring program.
Evaluates the Mentoring matches during and upon completion of the process.
Supports and encourages Mentees and Mentors throughout the mentoring process.
Assists and develops career opportunities for youth who are participating in the mentoring program
Maintains mentor-mentee case notes and service entries in related databases and paper files throughout the client relationship.
Ensures youth complete each component of the NetWorks/Mentoring program including providing mentoring, employment preparation, job development, employment counselling and other wrap around supports as needed.
Coaches and provides clients with pre-employment and post-employment mentoring opportunities.
Develops marketing strategies targeted at specific clients, employers, youth serving organizations, and professional groups/associations to promote the NetWorks/Mentoring Services.
Conducts exit interviews upon completion of the NetWorks/Mentoring process and acquires feedback on service quality and long term impact.
Attends all Networking events, represents COSTI and provides support to clients.
Follows up with clients to track outcomes.
Meets program targets as per contractual agreement with funder
Collects and compiles statistical reports on weekly basis.
Works collectively within a team to meet contractual targets and deadlines.

Qualifications:
Career and Work diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience.
Minimum one (1) year full-time Mentoring Coach experience, matching Mentors and Mentees
Well-developed presentation skills and group facilitation techniques.
Must have strong case management and client employment service plan development skills.
Knowledge of youth job creation programs, education and training programs and subsidized training programs.
Knowledge of the current labour market and industry trends.
Experience in outreaching to youth and the community in general.
Thorough knowledge of job search techniques.
Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.
Able to meet targets on a weekly basis.
Excellent communication (oral & written) and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of current computer packages: word, email, internet, access is required.
Must be willing to work at various locations across the GTA therefore access to a car is necessary.
Some evening work is required.
