Youth Group Worker

COSTI REQUIRES A YOUTH GROUP WORKER FOR ITS YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAM

Duties:

  • Recruits youth to participate in programming activities.
  • Organizes group activities for the youth such as drop-in nights, English conversational circles, cultural celebrations, recreational activities, orientation/information sessions, youth leadership and civic engagement activities.
  • Provides information and referral to educational institutions, recreational programs, youth specific services, community centers, volunteer programs and employment opportunities.
  • Liaises with community agencies in the areas where Newcomer youth are living to bridge services to the needs of this population.
  • Provides individual counseling based on the needs of the youth (life skills, crisis intervention, and telephone support).
  • Evaluates the program on an on-going basis and recommends service delivery changes based on the evaluation.
  • Qualifications:

  • Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience.
  • Minimum One (1) year of experience providing services to youth at risk.
  • Minimum of Six (6) months of previous case management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of specific issues facing immigrants and refugee youth.
  • Knowledge of the educational system, recreational programs and youth-related services.
  • Ability to speak a second language will be an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organization and coordination skills.
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening will be required.
  • Access to a car would be an asset.
  • Location:

    227 Vodden Street East, Unit 3, Brampton

    Duration of Position:

    Start April 23, 2018

    Starting Salary Range:

    $27,284 to $29,366 per annum + benefits
