Manager Operations

COSTI REQUIRES A MANAGER OPERATIONS FOR ITS RALPH CHIODO FAMILY IMMIGRANT RECEPTION CENTRE

Duties:

  • Manages all operations staff at the Reception Centre: food staff, housekeeping staff, weekend staff, evening and overnight staff and Relief (Program and Housekeeping) staff.
  • Oversees the hiring, training and scheduling of Operations staff and relief staff to ensure that the Centre has adequate 24 hour/7 day staffing.
  • Works with Assistant Manager, Program Delivery to ensure smooth flow of services to in-house clients.
  • Ensures Centre and its staff are in compliance with operational policies and procedures. Implements the Centre’s inspection and maintenance schedule to ensure that the building and equipment comply with all applicable Health and Safety regulations and are maintained in good working condition.
  • Ensures the Centre is in compliance with Toronto Shelter Standards, Health and Safety policies and procedures, City fire and building regulations.
  • Ensures essential repairs are scheduled as required.
  • Schedules and prepares for annual City of Toronto Rooming House License Inspection.
  • Ensures that monthly statistical reports (i.e. Daily Bread Food Bank) are completed and submitted.
  • Ensures renewal of annual service company contracts.
  • Provides “manager on call” duties 14 days/month and submits Manager On-Call Report.
  • Responsible for the coordination of in kind donations (i.e. new clothing, toys etc.).
  • Responsible for obtaining quotes and the purchase of capital items and operational supplies.
  • Ensures updates to Capital Inventory lists and operational supplies.
  • Monitors Building and Grounds and Food budget and assists General Manager track and record of all expenses related to operations for both the RAP and the Shelter services.
  • Assists the General Manager with the submission of the IRCC and Shelter budget to the funders.
  • Supervises the Center in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Liaises with COSTI, Property Manager, community agencies and organizations regarding operational issues.
  • Applies for grants, other operational funding and donations.
  • Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Two (2) years experience in facility/operations management in a residential setting, preferably a shelter.
  • One (1) year experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Sensitivity and awareness of issues facing refugees and refugee resettlement in Canada.
  • Experience in hiring, training and supervising staff in a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset. Preference will be given to Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Amharic, Tigrinya, and Spanish.

    Starting Salary Range:

    $31.20 to $33.93 per hour
