COSTI REQUIRES AN ASSISTANT MANAGER FOR A HOSTING PROGRAM AT THE NORTH YORK CENTRE

This is a full-time non-union contract position scheduled to work 35 hours per week**

This position oversees the Ukrainian Hosting Program providing mobile case management services for newly arrived Ukrainian families to enable them to settle in tempor

Duties:

  • Oversees all activities within the Ukrainian Hosting Program, ensuring that program targets, goals and objectives are met.
  • Hires, supervises, trains staff, students and service volunteers; completes performance appraisals.
  •    Conducts intake with voluntary Hosts offering temporary accommodations; this includes: Interviewing the Host using a housing checklist, conveying to the Host families the requirements related to mandatory voluntary sector, screening and completing mandatory screening of Hosts in partnership with the police services, conducting a site visit of the accommodations to check suitability, available amenities and capacity using the site visit checklist, providing orientation to the Host families.
  • Works with staff team to ensure that newly arrived Ukrainian families are matched with suitable accommodation offered by Hosts.
  • Completes exit interviews to seek feedback from Host families.
  • Conducts intake, screening and recruitment of volunteers.
  • Maintains program files, statistical information and evaluation data; prepares narrative progress reports and statistical service reports.
  • Monitors program budget and manages expenses.
  • Participates in community networks, workshops and internal and external committees; develops and maintains positive working relationships with partners, funders and other service providers.
  • Performs other administrative duties as required and actively participates in agency initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in hiring, training and supervising staff within the Settlement and Housing Help Sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in housing search, housing applications, and connecting with landlords
  • Demonstrated knowledge of eviction prevention, housing access, housing stabilization and special priority housing applications.
  • Knowledge of specific issues facing refugees and immigrants, race relations, gender, abuse survivors and mental health.
  • Knowledge of settlement and housing related services and resources, with an emphasis on the services and resources that exist within the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Advanced knowledge of Internet, Email and Windows software e.g. Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience in data-entry, documentation and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, organization and coordination skills
  • Access to a vehicle is essential as frequent travel to multiple locations within the GTA is required.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including some evenings
  • Required to provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) Police check. The VSS must have been completed within the past 6 months
  • Ability to speak Ukrainian language is an asset.
  • Must be fully vaccinated or be exempt from vaccination on human rights grounds. COSTI reserves the right to require information establishing the validity of the exemption

Starting Salary Range:

$52, 556 to 57, 145 per annum + benefits
