COSTI is pleased to announce its training program for women who have experienced abused or who are at-risk of abuse.
Women of Courage program aims to assist the economic independence and academic advancement of women who have experienced abuse or who are at –risk of abuse.
Through the financial support received from the Ontario Women’s Directorate, the Women of Courage program will provide participants across the GTA with the opportunity to engage in a college certificate training course made available through Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.
Covering five key components of office administration this certificate course will provide technical and practical administrative communication skills needed to succeed in today's business environment.
In addtion, participants will benefit from the increase knowledge of the labour market gained through attend pre-employment workshops supported by life skills and group counselling sessions. Upon completion of the certificate course participants will receive assistance with job search and work placement. This exciting initiative will help build confidence, self-esteem, and enable women to gain marketable skills, as well as acquire financial sustainability.
Yellow Brick House, Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic and the Catholic Family Services of Peel Dufferin participate on the program advisory committee as lead organization on issues of violence against women – providing their experience, knowledge, and involvement in a province-wide network of organizations and violence against women service providers.
