Group Facilitator - Anti Islamophobia Art Project Apply Now

BE A PART OF A DYNAMIC AND DIVERSE ORGANIZATION AS A CO-ORDINATOR FOR ITS ANTI ISLAMOPHOBIA ART PROJECT FOR ITS FAMILY AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

This is a full time Union position scheduled to work 35 hours per week**

Duties:

  • Develops and implements an art-based curriculum to support victims of Islamophobia.
  • Actively conducts outreach within COSTI, with other organizations and service providers, and within the community to recruit participants for the art-based group.
  • Registers and processes intake assessment for all group participants.
  • Facilitates an adult art-based support group (virtual and/or in person) for Muslim women who have experienced emotional and psychological distress because of Islamophobia.
  • Develops resources and knowledge products that raise awareness about Islamophobia.
  • Co-ordinates and plans events such as art exhibitions to raise awareness about Islamophobia.
  • Delivers webinars/presentations on the impact of Islamophobia.
  • Provide resources to participants to enhance safety and makes referrals to appropriate health/mental health and social service agencies.
  • Enters statistical client data in COSTI’s client database and iCare system and prepares quarterly reports.
  • Participates in weekly meetings with the project team.
  • Performs other tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Social Work, fine arts, media and communication, education, social sciences, or another relevant area. (Priority consideration will be given to those with a Bachelor’s in Social Work with a focus on knowledge of art based modalities)
  • One (1) year of experience facilitating groups.
  • An understanding of the rich diversity within the local Muslim community with networks and lived experience within the community. Prior experience working with or volunteering with the local Muslim community will be an asset.
  • Fluency in a second language will be an asset. (eg. Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Farsi, Somali, Dari).
  • Must have access to a vehicle.
  • Must be able to work evenings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of art-based techniques.
  • Knowledge of anti-discriminatory and anti-racism theory, policy and practice.
  • Sensitive to and aware of the social problems facing refugees and immigrants.
  • Sensitive to issues of racism, discrimination, and their impact on individuals and community.

 

 

  • Hours of work shall be scheduled in accordance with Article 12.01and shall consist of five (5) seven (7) hour days, Monday to Friday.

    Starting Salary Range:

    $53,952 to $58,064 per annum + benefits
