Facilitator

COSTI REQUIRES A FACILITATOR FOR ITS MISSISSAUGA EMPLOYMENT SERVICES LOCATION

Duties:

  • Prepares and facilitates in-person and online workshops in areas related to employment and pre-employment.
  • Creates and revamps employment and pre-employment workshop materials and maintain an up-to-date e-copy and hard copy.
  • Liaises with Employment Consultants regarding changes to employment action plans and need for non-employment services and support.
  • Instructs clients on resume development and self-marketing strategies, effective interview skills and phone calling techniques, among other job search tools and techniques.
  • Assists clients to outreach and market themselves to employers to ensure placements.
  • Assists clients with Second Career applications
  • Provides technical and professional support to clients using centre services.
  • Maintains an up-to-date materials in R & I area including flyers; books and job search materials
  • Provides feedback on clients’ resumes, cover letters, employment solicitation, follow up and thank you letters.
  • Records services provided in various databases including CIS, conducts an initial service needs assessment to determine the need for COSTI provided assistance or community services referrals.
  • Evaluates validity of online resources relevant to career planning and development, job search strategies and employment opportunities.
  • Organizes and arranges activities, workshop and special event within the Centre and completes schedule for R and I and off- site information sessions
  • Liaises with and makes presentations to other community organizations, ethno specific agencies, training institutions, regulatory bodies, etc. to increase awareness about COSTI’s programs and services.
  • Markets Centre services through outreach to local residents and businesses at community booths, events and job/career fairs.
  • Compiles statistics both electronically and in hardcopy using designated forms and procedures.
  • Supports all Employment, YJL Mentoring and ITI, Life skills programs and services at the Mississauga location
  • Qualifications:

  • Social Services Worker diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience in an employment program.
  • Minimum One (1) year of experience facilitating pre-employment workshops
  • Minimum Six (6) months of experience providing employment counselling
  • Extensive knowledge of career assessments and job search techniques
  • Knowledge of Employment Ontario/Employment Services programs
  • Knowledge of the current labour market and industry trends.
  • Experience in developing job search workshop materials
  • Experience in developing placements for a variety of professions/occupations.
  • Excellent knowledge of community agencies and resources.
  • High organizational skills with ability to work in a team.
  • Knowledge of current computer packages: Word, Email, Internet.
  • Car is an asset.

    Starting Salary Range:

    $24.98 to $26.89 per hour
