COSTI REQUIRES AN EMPLOYMENT FACILITATOR FOR ITS FEDERAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (FIN)

This is a Non-Union position scheduled to work 17.5 hours per week

Duties:

• Conducts employability assessments with for Federal Internship Program eligibility using formal assessment tools throughout the CASIP agencies.
• Assists all clients to prepare and meet the objectives to apply for the FIN program throughout the year.
• Keeps records and files for clients who are applying for and participating with FIN.
• Refer clients to appropriate agency for Employment Ontario and other required services.
• Provides employment counselling services to un-/under-employed newcomers.
• Participates as part of the overall program review team.
• Conducts outreach to all level of Government to recruit Managers to participant in the FIN program.
• Maintains a caseload of clients, follows up and monitors their progress to ensure they are prepared for all stages of the FIN process.
• Liaises with CASIP agencies to conduct information sessions, preparatory sessions virtually and in person when needed.
• Develops curriculum and facilitates structured individual, small group and e-counselling workshops to introduce newcomers to the program and assist with effective job search strategies Assists with job fairs, employer and special events as needed.
• Facilitates networking/special speaker events to support and motivate employed clients and supports career advancement.
• Meets monthly targets for employers and clients.
• Ensure that reporting on outputs and outcomes follows guidelines developed by the funder.
• Provide input into the meeting agendas as well as share information on best practices in place.
• Generate ideas on how to ensure the sustainability of the FIN Program in the GTA.
• Works collectively within a team to meet contractual targets and deadlines.
• Completes reports weekly, monthly and yearly.
 

Qualifications:

• Career and Work diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience. 
• Minimum nine (9) months full-time group facilitation experience.
• Experience in reaching and connecting with Employers.
• Knowledge of the current labour market and industry trends.
• Experience in outreaching, internationally trained professional and the community.
• Thorough knowledge of job searching techniques.
• Self motivated with the ability to motivate others.
• Excellent communication (oral & written) and interpersonal skills. 
• Knowledge of current computer packages: word, email, internet, access is required.
• Must be willing to work some evenings and travel throughout the GTA if required.
• Car is necessary as frequent travel is required in the GTA.

Due to COVID 19, work will be performed virtually using COSTI equipment

Duration of Position:

February 1, 2021 – March 31, 2021

Starting Salary Range:

$25.48 - $27.42 per hour

The Federal Internship for Newcomers Program (FIN) provides newcomers with valuable temporary Canadian work experience and training opportunities with federal government departments and other public and private sector organizations. The FIN Employment Facilitator will outreach to various levels of government for training opportunities and prepare newcomers to apply and interview for those training opportunities.
