Weekend Overnight Support Persons Apply Now


These are non-union contract position scheduled to work 14 hours per week overnight shift, Saturdays and Sundays

11:00 pm to 7:00am (2 positions)


  • Ensures house rules are observed.
  • De-escalates non-violent crisis situations e.g. client altercation, family conflicts.
  • Provides emergency intervention in case of client illness and calls paramedics if required.
  • Communicates in a timely and professional manner with the facility management regarding any client concerns.
  • Acts as a contact person for hotel staff.
  • Occasionally responsible for admitting new arrivals.
  • Reports to the Centre Manager and communicates to counsellors any issues requiring follow-up.
  • Work with overnight security to patrol and conduct room checks when needed.
  • Respond to emergencies with clients.
  • Conduct bed check when needed.
  • Document any incidences and services provided overnight on COSTI and SMIS database
  • Provide daily report to supervisor.



  • Community college diploma in community work/human services or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in conflict management, dispute resolution and de-escalation.
  • Must have experience working in a homeless shelter.
  • Understanding of issues facing population experiencing homelessness.
  • Possession of a valid First Aid/CPR training certificate is required.
  • Possession of a valid Naloxone training certificate is required.
  • Required to provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) Police check. The VSS must have been completed within past 6 months.

Starting Salary Range:

$19.99 to $21.52 per hour
