A MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST
This is a fulltime position scheduled to work 35 hours per week
Duties:
- Connect with colleagues across the organization to gather impactful stories, understand campaign goals, and assess client needs. Coordinate content and material for major projects such as the Annual Report, marketing campaigns, and special initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and branding.
- Draft and edit engaging content across multiple formats, including speeches, remarks, flyers, and social media posts, while adhering to COSTI’s writing guide and branding guidelines. Ensure all written content maintains a high standard of clarity, accuracy, and alignment with COSTI’s mission and values.
- Manage and monitor COSTI’s social media channels, responding to inquiries and comments in a timely and professional manner. Track and analyze social media performance metrics, create competitor assessments, and generate reports to support the Associate Director and Marketing leadership team.
- Design and produce high-quality graphics and materials using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, with the ability to quickly turn around creative assets for urgent projects.
- Collaborate with the digital team to support the development and maintenance of the website. Assist in content updates and provide support during the launch of new digital platforms.
- Draft and maintain procedures and frameworks related to communication processes, ensuring a structured approach to workflow and project management within the team.
- Assist with planning and coordinating event logistics, including venue selection, menu planning, and budget comparisons. Evaluate event effectiveness and ROI by applying decision matrices and other analytical tools.
- Provide support across all areas of the department to maintain project momentum and ensure that timelines are met.
- Prioritize work assignment and workflow to achieve operational goals effectively.

Qualifications:
- University degree and/or post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism and/or experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably within a non-profit or community-based organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to produce clear, persuasive content. Attention to detail, and excellent editing and proofreading skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Project management experience is an asset — must be able to time manage effectively and create project schedules, be comfortable managing multiple projects/events and be able to meet competing deadlines.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, including experience with Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, with the ability to manage and monitor engagement across these channels.
- Experience in event planning and logistics is an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Sway), design, and publishing software, (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva).
