Project Lead - Newcomer Workplace Language Training

This is a full-time union position scheduled to work 35 hours per week. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
COSTI REQUIRES A PROJECT LEAD FOR THE NEWCOMERS’ WORKPLACE LANGUAGE TRAINING PROGRAM AT ITS TORONTO NORTH YORK LOCATION. INTERNAL ONLY.
Duties:
- Provides overall leadership and guidance to the WLT team which includes ensuring program standards and procedures are met.
- Coordinates all project activities for delivery, including assessments, referrals, language instruction, employment preparation workshops, guest speakers, networking, job shadowing and follow-up support.
- Liaises with the CLARS assessment centres for client intake assessment and placement.
- Conducts intake interviews with clients to determine suitability for enrollment into the program.
- Manages course waitlist on CLARS and registers clients into the program.
- Supports new clients’ access to virtual meeting tools and the Learning Management System (Moodle-based online modules).
- Identifies and connects participants with mentorship and networking opportunities.
- Creates, organizes, and maintains operational files online.
- Ensures weekly and monthly WLT component deliverables are met.
- Identifies, and where applicable, resolves programming concerns and issues.
- Coordinates client feedback surveys and assists the manager in the evaluation of the program services.
- Assists in the recruitment of employers for mock interviews, job shadowing and site visits.
- Tabulates, compiles, verifies, and formulates statistical and narrative reports.
- Collects and inputs client data into HARTs and CIS.
- Markets program information to participants, employers, newcomer serving organizations, and the community in general.
- Organizes information sessions for participants and partnering agencies or potential employers.
- Liaises with employers and employment services to provide mentoring, guest speaker visits, job shadowing, and networking events.

Qualifications:
- Community college diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to those with an Employment Counselling Diploma.
- TESL Ontario certification is an asset.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience coordinating a newcomer language or skills training program.
- Experience in teaching workplace language training programs is an asset.
- Experience in facilitating online and in-person information sessions and workshops.
- Experience using virtual meeting tools such as MS Teams.
- Experience in facilitating online training using Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exceptional multitasking skills.
- Sensitivity to and awareness of settlement issues facing immigrants.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and good command of written and oral English.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Must be fully vaccinated or be exempt from vaccination on human rights grounds. COSTI reserves the right to request information establishing the validity of the exemption.
