COSTI RELEASES ANNUAL IMPACT REPORT 2023/2024
As we present COSTI’s 2023/2024 Annual Impact Report, we reflect on a year of profound achievements, guided by our mission to empower newcomers and diverse communities. This year, we served 39,269 clients across multiple services, with a remarkable 192,863 service engagements, spanning both digital and in-person platforms.
COSTI’s holistic approach of providing employment services, skills training, housing, mental health, social services and other settlement support—has helped create pathways to economic security and social inclusion for our clients. Among our key achievements was the expansion of our employment programs, which included job fairs and partnerships with major employers, facilitating on-the-spot-hires. This culminated in the TRIEC Mentoring Partnership Recognition Award and the CanadianSME Small Business of the Year 2023, recognizing our leadership in newcomer settlement and integration.
Through partnerships with over 300 organizations, we extended our reach and client-centered services, including trauma-informed mental health support, English language training, professional networking, entrepreneurial opportunities and digital skills programs specifically for women, as well as pre-arrival information and services for international students, newcomers, refugees and asylum claimants, among other vital services. We also addressed the housing crisis, providing temporary shelter and securing permanent housing for families in need, including for refugees and newcomers from Afghanistan and Ukraine.
Client stories, like that of Shihabeldean Abdelrahim, who went from a refugee to a Resettlement Assistance Program Counsellor and of Abimbola Oluwaseun, who found both stability and opportunity in Canada as a caregiver, exemplify the transformative nature of our services.
