COSTI REQUIRES A GROUP FACILTATOR FOR ITS ANTI ISLAMOPHOBIA ART PROJECT

This is a contract position scheduled to work 17.5 hours per week** until March 31st, 2025.

Duties:

  • Develops and implements an art-based curriculum to support victims of Islamophobia.
  • Conducts outreach within COSTI and community to recruit participants for the art-based group.
  • Co-ordinates and plans events to raise awareness of Islamophobia.
  • Registers and processes intake assessment for all group participants.
  • Develops resources and knowledge products that raise awareness of anti-racism and anti-discrimination specifically related to Islamophobia.
  • Facilitates an adult art-based support group for individuals from the Muslim faith whom experienced emotional and psychological distress because of Islamophobia. (virtual and/or in person)
  • Enters statistical client data in COSTI’s client database and iCare system. Prepares quarterly report.
  • Participates in weekly meeting with project team.
  • Delivers webinars/presentations to community groups, agencies and institutions on the impact of Islamophobia.
  • Provide resources to enhance safety.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate health/mental health and social service agencies.
  • Liaises with other organizations and service providers.
  • Provides crisis intervention.

Qualifications:

  • Social Services Worker diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Women’s Studies or equivalent
  • Self identifies as a Muslim.
  • Excellent group facilitation skills.
  • Fluency in a second Language will be an asset. (eg. Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Farsi, Somali, Dari)
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of art-based techniques.
  • Knowledge of anti-discriminatory and anti-racism theory, policy and practice.
  • Sensitive to and aware of the social problems facing refugees and immigrants.
  • Sensitive to issues of racism, discrimination and their impact on individuals and community.
  • Must have access to a vehicle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work evenings.

Starting Salary Range:

$33.37 to $34.98 per hour
