Men's Intervention Group (Partner Abuse Response Program)
Passi Nuovi is a culturally competent men’s intervention group for Italian Canadian men who are court mandated or voluntarily attend, and need to acknowledge their abuse towards their partners, wives, or girlfriends. Through their group participation, men gain a better understanding of the different types of abuse, and learn to take personal responsibility to reduce the abuse and violence.
Services Available
- Individual assessment.
- 16 weeks closed group, which focuses on teaching men who participate about different types of abuse ad taking responsibility for reducing violence.
- Partner Contact and referral to the Violence Against Women program.
- Support and resource information for partners.
Staff at this location speak English and Italian.
Who is Eligible
Services are available to all Italian Canadian men residing in the Greater Toronto area and York Region.
Program Intake
Groups run every Tuesday evening 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Symptoms of Depression
Symptoms of Depression include:
- Significant changes in appetite and weight over a short period of time
- Sleep problems; sleeping too little or too much
- Loss of interest in work, hobbies, people
- Feelings of uselessness, hopelessness, excessive guilt
- Preoccupation with failure(s) or inadequacies
- Agitation or loss of energy
- Slowed thinking, forgetfulness, trouble
concentrating and making decisions - Decreased sexual drive
- Tendency to cry easily, or having the urge to cry but unable to do so
- Excessive concern about physical complaints
- Thoughts of death and/or harming self
- At times, a loss of touch with reality, perhaps hearing voices (hallucinations) or having strange ideas (delusions)
