Foundational Life Skills for Women
The Foundational Life Skills for Women Program supports the social and economic integration of newcomer women to Ontario. Program activities address literacy and basic skills, employability, and foster personal growth ensuring that newcomers have the support, skills and opportunities to participate in their local communities and the labour market.
The program is designed for women looking to enhance their reading, writing, numeracy, and digital literacy skills. The course is six weeks, with 5 hours of instruction per week.
The programming is delivered online on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m

The program components include:
- Reading Skills: Techniques for understanding and analyzing texts
- Writing Basics: Forms, applications and emails
- Numeracy Skills: Basic Arithmetic, basic budgeting, and financial literacy
- Digital Literacy: Using word processors, online safety, email, and internet navigation

- Job Support
Who is Eligible
Eligibility is open to residents of Ontario who fall into either of the following categories:
- A naturalized Canadian citizen, permanent resident or their dependent, Convention refugee or refugee claimant; or
- Approved as a permanent resident, or their dependant, but who has not yet been processed to receive permanent resident status (e.g., individuals approved under the Ontario Immigrant Provincial Nominee program or the Canadian Experience Class); or
- Admitted under a federal caregiver program with a pathway to permanent residency
